Historical Writers of America (HWA) is a nonprofit trade association, with a membership of supportive historical writers and related industry professionals. Our mission is to advance the personal, professional and business interests of writers who are inspired by history through networking, education, and advocacy. Fiction? Nonfiction? Both? HWA is the place for you! Whether your interest is in book, novel, short story, journalism, or other writing forms, we celebrate the writer that is inspired by history, and work to have a supporting community, and educational and networking opportunities.

HWA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to celebrate, support and connect ALL historical writers: fiction or non-fiction, whether they are writing books or writing for the screen (movies or tv), the stage, magazines, or online blogs. HWA’s focus is on the historical writer - in all genres. If your setting is at least 50 years in the past, it's considered historical. HWA welcomes traditionally published or self-published authors as well as those aspiring to be published to join as general members.
